Passport expiry reminder
A new passport can take weeks to get, and many countries require the document to stay valid for months after your trip. So the reminder belongs half a year before the date, not a week.

Frequently asked questions
How many months ahead should I renew?
It depends on the country and the queue. A reasonable start is a reminder six months ahead; then see how long it takes where you live.
What matters more, the expiry date or remaining validity?
For travel it's the remaining validity: many countries want the document valid for some time after entry. That's each country's own rule, so check it before buying tickets.
Do I need a repeat?
No. After renewal the term is different, so you simply create a new reminder.
